Career History
Kara Ward has close to two decades of experience in the performing arts industry, both nationally and internationally.
With extensive collegiate and artistic networks and a proven track record in:
- curating critically acclaimed programs,
- working with artists, venues, festivals, arts organisations and funding bodies,
- producing at the highest level of competency in both the commercial and independent sector, and
- managing complex projects and demanding logistics on time and on budget.
She has held producing, administrative and project management roles for the following organisations and events:
- Arts House, (City of Melbourne),
- Dance Massive,
- Melbourne Festival,
- Adelaide Cabaret Festival,
- Edinburgh Fringe Festival,
- GIFT Festival, (Tbilisi, Georgia),
- Light in Winter (Federation Square),
- Sydney 2000 Olympic Games,
- Manchester Commonwealth Games 2002, and
- Melbourne Commonwealth Games 2006.
Early in her career she worked as a producer and tour manager for commercial producers Back Row Productions UK (Tap Dogs, Gumboots, Shaolin Kung Fu Monks and Slava’s Snowshow).
She has managed programs and hosted visiting delegations of international presenters for Melbourne Festival (2005 – 2008) and Dance Massive (2009 & 2011).
Kara is a member of: Theatre Network Victoria (TNV), IETM, the international network for contemporary performing arts.
